Dr McCarthy completed her medical degree at James Cook University in North Queensland in 2018, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. 

Following her graduation she worked as a Resident Doctor at Redcliffe Hospital for four years completing multiple terms in Obstetrics and Gynaecology,  General Medicine, Rehabilitation Medicine and Emergency Medicine. During this time she completed extra studies in Advanced Paediatric Care and won an award for clinical excellence for an Emergency Medicine Research Audit.

She  has a  keen interest in Preventative Medicine and Family Practice.
